HOT 97’s Top 22 Songs Of 2022

The year 2022 was marked by the continued dominance of hip-hop in the music industry. Rap and R&B have been leading the charts and streaming numbers since 2017, and this year saw the emergence of new stars as well as the consistency of established artists. Drake released two albums, Beyoncé made a comeback, and numerous female MCs gained widespread recognition.

The HOT 97 Digital Staff conducted a poll to determine the Top 22 Songs of 2022. The process involved asking the editorial staff to rank their top 30 songs of the year and assigning them point values based on their rankings. Songs that were released in 2022 were eligible to be included on the list. The winning song received 163 points out of a maximum 240 points.

Kendrick Lamar, who released a highly acclaimed album in 2022, did not have any songs that stood out as top contenders for the year.
