Earlier today, news broke that NBA player Ja Morant had been suspended, causing a stir in the sports world. The Memphis Grizzlies star, who is only 23 years old, has had a successful career in the NBA so far but has recently hit some bumps in the road. Retired basketball players like Stephen Jackson have expressed their support for Morant, while others have questioned his decision-making and urged him to leave behind any involvement in the “street life.” Now, in his first interview since the scandals began, Morant is speaking out.

Ja Morant Is Ready For A New Beginning

The first scandal involved Morant allegedly assaulting a 17-year-old basketball player during a confrontation and displaying a gun. Morant denied these allegations, but the controversy continued when he flashed a firearm during a Livestream at a bar. Recently, Morant was suspended for eight games due to engaging in behaviors detrimental to the league, and he was also admitted to a counseling program in Florida. NBA commissioner Adam Silver condemned Morant’s actions, but also offered support in a private conversation. Morant has apologized for his actions and expressed a desire to show everyone who he really is.

In the interview with former basketball player and sports analyst Jalen Rose for ESPN’s NBA Countdown, Morant acknowledged his mistakes and spoke about his decision to go to a strip club, which led to viral photos of him having a good time. He admitted that he used the club as an escape, but acknowledged that it was a bad decision and not representative of who he really is as a person. Morant is focused on becoming a better version of himself and wants to show everyone what he’s really about. The full interview is set to air later today.
