Chris Brown\’s cancellation of the AMAs is addressed by the production team

In response to the drama surrounding Chris Brown‘s performance at the American Music Awards on Sunday night, the production company broke its silence. A spokesperson for Dick Clark Production clarified on Monday that the tribute was not Brown\’s fault, but a matter of creative direction.
The statement read, “Live shows change all the time; this element of the AMA didn’t work out due to our inability to align on the performance, which was not Chris Brown’s fault.” On November 19, 2022, the day before the show, Brown posted a video from rehearsals on Instagram. Brown performs a lengthy routine intended to pay tribute to the Legendary Michael Jackson in the post. “U SERIOUS?” he asked in the caption. In a separate comment, Breezy said, “I would have been at the AMa performance, but was canceled for unknown reasons.” Ciara shared a video on Monday of her performing a dance number to Thriller during the same rehearsal as Brown. In a tribute to MJ, the singer alluded to the fact she would also be performing. “MJ, thank you for all your inspiration. Chris Brown didn\’t attend Sunday night\’s Thriller 40th Anniversary show. @ChrisBrownOfficial, you\’re a rare breed of this generation. Always fun to rock with you,” Ciara wrote. Although he didn\’t attend the show, he won ‘Favorite Male R&B Artist’ against The Weekend, Giveon, Brent Faiyaz, and Lucky Daye. Kelly Rowland accepted the award on his behalf and calmed the crowd after some audience members booed instead of applauding. Rowland responded to some booing and unclear shouts from the audience by saying, “Chris Brown isn’t here today, so I’m accepting this award on his behalf.” “Excuse me, chill out,” Rowland said. I want to thank Chris for making great music and for being an incredible performer. I will take this award and give it to you, I love you so much. Roland said in a recent interview obtained by TMZ that Breezy deserves grace and forgiveness. “Congratulations, and congratulations to all the nominees in this category.” More unclear shouts followed. According to her, \”It\’s important to remember how human we are. We all need to be forgiven for anything we have done. We all come up short at some point.\”
